In all honesty, I always thought valentine’s day was a crappy excuse for a celebration. In my opinion, every day is a day for love. In Malta it is purely a day for couples, however I remember in Canada we used to give a card to everyone in class, which I think was really, really sweet.

I spent my day at work, it was not very romantic, actually it was quite bloody and poopy. But it’s cool, some how, I felt completely at peace today.

When I got home, I was greeted with a bunch of roses and a lovely card. I made the hubby his fave pasta dish and we curled up and watched a cheesy rom-com, ‘Valentine’s Day’ (apt, yes?). And now we are in bed, reading/blogging and cuddling. I also have a lovely cup of tea by my side brought to me by my husband, my very own funny valentine.

Are things perfect? Maybe not, but they are definitely extremely good. Christmas, new Year and Valentine’s day, known affectionately as the misery trifecta, has now come to a close. Maybe people get so miserable because their expectations are so high and then they feel disappointed. And it’s true, disappointment can be earth shattering. Or heart breaking.

On the other hand, I am ecstatic about a cup of tea brought to me in bed. As my mum always says, tea always tastes best when made for you by someone you love.
